Education awards to humanitarian entrants

The Minister for Human Services and Community Development, Cassy O'Connor, will present the Alcorso Foundation's 2011 Humanitarian Entrant Education Awards at a ceremony at Parliament House at 10.30 am TOMORROW (Friday 09 December 2011). The annual awards of $2500 each are presented to humanitarian entrants undertaking study in years 10, 11 and 12 and may be spent on education expenses of the winners' choice.

This year's recipients are: Hana Abera, Elizabeth College; Moo Eh Paw, Claremont College; Ruth Vita, Guilford Young College; Nute Rai Sung, Launceston College; Samuel Olal, Hobart Mt Nelson College; Mathew Nekemiah, St Patricks College. more....
2012 Italian Arts Residency
The Alcorso Foundation's 2012 Italian Arts Residency was been awarded to Tasmanian curator and arts practitioner Sarah Jones on Saturday evening at Contemporary Art Services Tasmania's 18th birthday celebration. The $12,000 award is presented in conjunction with Arts Tasmania and aims to promote artistic and professional development for Tasmanian-based artists practicing across all art forms.Ms Jones will travel to Italy in 2012 to undertake an internship with Director Sergio Tossi at the contemporary artspace, EX3 in Florence. more...
AuSSI Wins Tasmanian Environment Award
Tasmanian Government school teachers Jenny Dudgeon and Jayne Lewis have been awarded for their outstanding work on the Australian Sustainable Schools (AuSSi) Initiative.The AuSSI-Tas program took out the Education Award at the Tasmanian Awards for Environmental Excellence 2011. Read article»

From spaghetti western to chamber opera - the Alcorso Foundation 2011 Italian Arts Residency has been awarded to Tasmanian singer, actress and auteur, Helen Noonan.
Ms Noonan will travel to Italy in 2011 to research and create new works in both English and Italian for musical theatre/chamber opera. Read article>>
