The Claudio Alcorso Foundation, in partnership with Ten Days On The Island, Tasmania's premier biennial arts festival, was pleased to support the visit of Sardinian music diva Simona Salis. As part of the Foundation's Italian Artist in Residence program, Simona led vocal master-classes for Tasmanian students and the local community. www.tendaysontheisland.com
The Claudio Alcorso Foundation sponsors cultural exchanges to Italy in the areas of visual and performing arts. Every year an emerging Tasmanian artist will benefit from a three-month residency in Italy. To remain inclusive and support artists practicing in art forms without institutional support applications for 2008 will be open to artists across all art forms, a change from a different art form being represented each year. Selection is strongly based on clear potential for professional development. Applications for our arts residency to Italy close on 1 October for the following year. The successful applicant will be announced around the 1 December of that year.
Applications are available by download or by emailing Lucinda on info@claudioalcorso.org or by writing to The Claudio Alcorso Foundation, GPO Box 2010, Hobart 7001.
All applications must be returned on our official application form and be accompanied by the following information.
1. A full curriculum vitae including educational details, professional employment, awards, scholarships, travel and (where appropriate) exhibitions, collections, commissions and selected bibliographical information. DVD and video clips of performances are acceptable - no longer than 10 minutes. Please include a slide list or clear descriptions of all images submitted.
2. A letter describing the reasons why this residency could help your career and the objectives of your time in Italy with a draft budget. The letter should also give the selection panel some indication of your current professional concerns.
